Site-Wide Plot - #2 « Thread Started on Oct 10, 2009, 3:48pm »
4 years prior to the present...
The kidnappings of the residents of Crestlayne was a very subtle happening. One case of a boy disappearing 10 years before was looked over, but the evidence was far to divided by time to say it was the same killer or kidnapper. Nevertheless, the people of the Peaks were slowly consumed by paranoia as their numbers dwindled. Eventually, the kidnappings turned to chaos.
The children of Rowena were coming in vast numbers, stealing away humans in order to restore their Crone back to power. And, as if things couldn't get anymore severe for the humans, one of the town's only sources of comfort was found dead about a month later. Father Patrick, a blind Catholic priest who had moved into to rejuvenate the old church of Crestlayne, was found crucified to a cross. Punctured throughout his body were various sizes of stakes, the most notable in his eyes and heart.
It was then that the locals knew everything had been turn upside down.
Vampire hunters who had either followed prey here, or had come unknowingly of their presence, were now certain who the culprits were. But their knowledge was found too late. About two months later, the number of vampires were overwhelming. While most stayed behind in their hideout in Mount. Cymbeline, others cam along with Morgana and Alek to bring destruction to the town (not very surprising to know that the two were the killers of Father Patrick). A war ensued for what seemed like eternity.
Some of the vampires who felt sympathy or even love for the humans, or just saw no justice in the blood-spilling, took the side of humans, while the rest of the vampires were under the rule of Rowena. As the first vampire rose to power, all seemed helpless. Hundreds were killed and almost all of Ireland fell to its knees to Rowena. All ships and communication with the rest of the world was shut out. Electricity was cut, networks were thrashed. Ireland had been thrown back into the Stone Age.
Unfortunately, in the end, the vampires of Rowena were victorious. The humans and traitor vampires were enslaved one by one as the town was left to a gruesome and forsaken place, including most of Ireland. Rowena reigned for months and months until it became years. This merciless corpse ruled for almost 3 years until she came to a rut in her triumph. And with only on situation, the entire Empire of Rowena seemed to collapse.
Rumor that one of her followers had fallen in love with a prisoner reached high-positioned ears, and eventually came to Rowena. At this point, the male vampire had begun secretly seeing the slave whenever possible, though this was a challenge since all of the vampire had now come across a special quartz called Sun Stone. Nevertheless, somehow their love had grown, and this seriously brought out the ugliest creature in Rowena.
Brought on by rage and betrayal, Rowena called forth the accused human and vampire. A large meeting was held in the clearing of Crestlayne where hundreds of vampires and their slaves circled 'round. It was twilight, you see, before the sun was to rise. Being the mad woman she was, Rowena went off into a deep and dark speech of the waste that love was and how incompatible and pathetic these two creatures were. Their love was inefficient and worthless, a concoction made only for storytelling. As her anger climaxed and she was to order their execution, something very unpredicted happened. Rowena burst into flames.
According to witness vampires, Rowena had not been wearing an Sun jewelry, as when she was brought news of the forbidden love, she had stormed out, careless in thought. .
As the vampiress burned and screamed in agony, she cursed the people of Crestlayne once again, even her own followers. Horrified by their mother's death, lies and deceit, everyone (though some reluctant) agreed that this was a sign--a sign that peace was needed, and the time of Rowena was done. Thusly, the recovery of the Peaks--and Ireland for that matter- began. All humans were agreed to be erased of any memory of what had happened.

Interspecie-lovers objected, but in the end, it was decided. The mortals lost all thoughts of the existence of vampires. Humans were instead given the idea that all the wreckage had occurred when a plague hit and caused pure treachery. The island was wiped clean of their presence in the mind of humans, and a new era of peace began. Working together, unknowingly, alongside the vampires, Crestlayne was rebuilt like the rest of Ireland. A pact was made between the current vampire residents, as well as arriving or returning, that their secrets must never be revealed again. And five commandments were made to be followed:
1. Feed only at night when the moon is at its peak. 2. Never be found bleeding, less thou pay the price. 3. Speak nothing of thou secrets to any mortal beings. 4. Keep the identity of fellow supernaturals hidden as well. 5. Keep your rings on during the day. And, if thou take them off, do so solely at night, and hide away from the human eyes of thy neighbors.
The consequence of disobedience? Death.
In order to live with humans, these rules were created to be understood and followed. The executions of rebels were always the worst of punishments, in which details are definitely not needed. Sun Stones continued to be mined out of Cymbeline Mountain under the blind noses of the humans. These special stones (see Species Information) gave the power to stand against sunlight and live just like humans under one condition--they almost never take them off.
According to the laws, if one is caught feeding, the human's memories are erased and the criminal vampire is killed. Of course, in general, the vampires feed off of the humans on a daily basis at night using their mind-control powers. This makes it mandatory that they rid of all memory of what happened in the mind of the mortal to protect their secret. Some vampires resorted to vegetarianism (feeding on animals).
A treaty was brought between the two species. That is, until the body was found...
And so we come to the present day. The vampires of Crestlayne fret as they believe their secret is on the brink of discovery. When the body of a human is found with animal-like markings and wounds on the neck, suspicion is raised between the Blood Revenants of the Peaks. The humans, meanwhile, are terrified of what has happened. The police have confirmed that it was an animal attack, and that now all humans should keep their doors locked at night and come home before midnight (this could pose a problem for some vampires who sneak into houses to feed instead of being invited).
Some vampires, who are called Draelmy, either believe in or like the idea of ruling as Rowena did. These vampires are not too fond of living in secrecy and do not believe in living alongside humans. Power is what they crave, while a few of them simply want an all-vampire place to live in. The opposite of Draelmy are the Ashvors; a selection of vampires are believe in peace with mortals and the possibility that they can have love with on another.
Another group of vampires, known as Estales, do not believe in either, and are instead neutral. They do believe that living with humans is possibly, but they don't exactly like hiding their true selves, either. Despite these different groups, there is still a solid agreement of secrecy between them--something they will take through the sands of time. But with so much inner conflict between the vampires and accusations flying...
Who is the killer of the human? Will they strike again? And what of the Draelmy who long for Rowena's days again? What of the humans who live amongst this clashing world obliviously? So many questions, and yet... Perhaps some will be answered in due time, while others...
